5.0 out of 5 stars Huge fun :), December 12, 2006
By Nick Domani "Nicky D." (Birmingham, AL USA) - See all my reviews
Alright it's big, bad and fairly fast. No, it's not "hobby grade" but I didn't want the hassle either [or the cost for that matter]. This thing is huge so plan on using it outdoors [at least two feet long and eighteen inches wide]. I thought it was a little flimsy at first, but after my excursion this morning into a boulder and earlier into my kitchen cabinets and a wall and down a ditch, I'm convinced otherwise. The manufacturer, New Bright, intelligently put a thick foam bumper on the front of it which really absorbed a full speed crash with a boulder. This thing is plenty fast for me [15 mph at least]. It comes with TWO 19.2 volt batteries that each have 600mah. What does this mean? Well, I'm not even entirely sure myself yet I was able to play around at full blast for at least 20 minutes and it felt like it had another 10 to 20 minutes left in it. The packaging states that it's only to be used on the street [no water], but of course I was running it through the grass, leaves, bumps, etc.

It's best to slow down to steer despite the fact that it does have some good "shoes"/tires, which are made of rubber as opposed to hard plastic. I paid $100 at Target for it, which is about $300 less than what I was going to pay for a loaded Traxxas E-Maxx [certainly no comparison with oil filled shocks, twin 550 motors, blah blah blah]. I have yet to jump/ramp it, but I think it will be good enough for my purposes [just basic fun and a little childish behavior].

It does include both batteries and chargers, which is a huge plus. The Instruction Manual says it might "cutoff" if you try to enter a steep grade; however, I went up a very steep gutter drain [easily 65 degrees] and it didn't cutoff at all - very impressive !!

It goes forwards and backwards very quickly, and you can even pull small wheelies both ways - usually accidentally :) The toy is pretty heavy so don't expect a small kid to be able to lug it around. Heck, a small kid could almost ride on this thing - just kidding of course, not advised. One thing I would advise if you get it [which you should], is to remove the black hood pins and bumper pins that hold the body on [because they fall off super easy just pulling it out of the package]: instead, take the nice black twistie tie that comes in the packaging and cut it in 5 equal pieces [the fifth one is a spare]. Take each piece and guide it through a hole in each of the clear "body-poles" and twist it equally. To me, this is a much better solution and still looks very similar to the hood/bumper "pins".

This truck is really big and bad, every dad at the park will want one. It has twin motors(one for front axel and one for rear) that each run off of their own 19.2 volt 600mah ncd battery and each come with their own charger. It will give you a good 20 minutes of fun on a charge but the batteries take about 6-8 hours to charge. It really is fast for how big it is. The tires alone stand 7" high. The steering radius is poor so it will not corner very good at all. But when you slow down you can manuver through anywhere. It does great off road and will even hill climb. It is 4*4. I dont think it is waterproof though. However I drove it around in the rain and through puddles and had no problems. If you can get 90 days of use out this bad boy I think you got your moneys worth.

I do not agree with L Brown's review.I just bought this truck too and every time I play with my LR3 the batteries have never came off the truck, this truck is fast and I do not treat it very well it has withstand all the possible damage, and let me tell you this truck it is not for playing over the street, that would be boring. The twin motors makes this truck fast but one thing I agree the steering is a little bit bad but since this is an outdoors toy it is no big deal. One thing I'd recommend for those who are going to buy it:you better buy the fast charger it charges the battery in just one hour, not like the regular it takes 4 to 6 hours.I would buy another one of this truck if there was a different color.
